Eric was born July 22, 1971, to Rodney and Colleen (Harold) Nourse. He was born in Santa Clara, California. At an early age – Eric’s family moved to Gold Beach, OR. It is there Eric was raised and grew to love the outdoors and experience the most amazing childhood. The rivers, creeks, ocean and vast outdoors were his backyard and he explored everything within his grasp. He was a daredevil and true adventurer.

He attended school in Gold Beach, OR and graduated from high school in 1989. He attended college at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. He graduated in 1993. He briefly returned to Gold Beach, OR.

Eric embraced a passion for countless hobbies and interests. Mountaineering, rock climbing, hiking, snowboarding, back country skiing, ice climbing, hunting, mountain biking, dirt bikes, motorcycles and woodworking to name a few. His true love was the water – rafting and kayaking. He loved, respected, studied and appreciated the powerful force of the rivers and creeks he dared. Yet he was soothed and spirited by the calm of their serenity.

His interests took him on amazing travels worldwide. Everything he did was filled with extreme enthusiasm and passion. As a teenager the traditional Annual began where Eric and a group of friends from childhood, college and adulthood met every summer and went backpacking into the most remote and beautiful wildernesses.

In 1997 Eric moved to Ft Collins, CO. He started his own flooring business, Nourse Flooring. In November 2000 Eric married Kandee Jackson in Estes Park, CO. They made their home together in Greeley with Kandee’s two sons, Brody and Logan Jackson.

Eric always tried to balance his responsibilities as a good husband and provider, as a step-father and pursue his passion for his hobbies. He had a dedicated work ethic and took great pride in his work and craftsmanship in flooring, tile work and all phases of construction. Together, Eric and Kandee shared the love for their home and pets.

December 16, 2012, Eric left Greeley heading for Argentina to climb Cerro Aconcagua. En route, he would meet up with his brother, Greg Nourse, and longtime friend, David Reinhart both of Portland, OR. On December 27, the climbers would find themselves facing trouble while attempting to summit. Reinhart experienced altitude sickness. It was decided Eric would leave and start a rescue attempt. Eric and Dave both lost their lives on December 29, 2012.

The Nourse and Reinhart families grieve their losses for these two amazingly adventuresome and spirited men. On the same day, two friends left this world doing something they loved. What the mountain took that day is Heaven’s gain.
